Karl-Anthony Towns is one of the top NBA players when it comes to shoe game. Let’s take a look at some of the best kicks the Minnesota Timberwolves’ superstar has worn in his young career.

The NBA is a unique sport when it comes to player presence and personality portrayal.

The camera is up close and personal. Fans follow off-court narrative closely; for some it’s their main attraction to the league. Player brand deals and nightly interviews create a space for fans to attach to player’s identities and for players to utilize their personality to grow their business.

Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Karl-Anthony Towns leans into this paradigm with his wacky and entertaining shoe concepts. So, let’s dive into KAT’s shoe game.

Oh, and before we get into the fun stuff, it’s important to establish that KAT does not have his own signature shoe deal. It wouldn’t be surprising if this manifested shortly in his career. He definitely is deserving of a shoe deal, especially with his ingenuity with design choices.

He does however, rock the same model of shoe and does have a deal with Nike to wear and promote the Nike HyperDunk 2017. He has worn the same shoe model since coming into the league.

The Rick and Morty shoe

With that caveat established, let’s start with his Rick and Morty shoe. KAT rocked these on Feb. 2, 2018.

You may remember these, as they absolutely caught everyone’s eye. Designed by custom shoe company, Kickstradomis, who does the custom designing for Town’s sneakers. These shoes brought fans closer to Towns by displaying a personal side to him.

Many people are huge fans of Rick and Morty and thoroughly enjoyed seeing their own interest reflected by an NBA superstar, and it was also well-timed: a year and a half after Season 3 ended, Rick and Morty fans needed the boost in their morale.
